Will the instructor be in the water?
A big part of our philosophy is that the instructor is in the water with you whether you are starting out with swimming or a seasoned swimmer.
Given the current situation, however, we have modified this approach in line with your level of swimming and how secure you are in the acquisition of a particular skill.
If the instructor deems you to be fully secure in a particular skill the instructor will teach the skill from the pool deck. The instructor will be wearing a face shield. If the instructor enters the water to demonstrate the skill they will keep a 2m distance.
If the instructor deems that you are reasonably but not fully secure in a particular skill the instructor will teach the skill in the water. The instructor will be wearing a face shield and will keep a distance of 2m.
If the instructor deems that you are not yet secure in a particular skill (but don’t need hands-on support) the instructor will teach in the water at closer proximity. The instructor will be wearing a face shield. The instructor will keep drills at arms-length and may use a reaching device.
If the instructor deems that you are not yet secure in a particular skill and that you would benefit from hands-on support (for example learning back floating) they will seek your consent before providing this. Before they provide any support they will put a face mask on under their face shield for the duration of the relevant practice. They will then return to their previous distance and remove their face mask. Any proximity is kept to the minimum necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns whatsoever as to the above please contact our office before your first lesson. If we don’t hear from you we assume that you are happy with the above.
When may I exit the pool?
The instructor will let you know when you may safely exit the pool.
