We recommend swimwear that is suitable for a lesson as distinct from the beach!
Most women will wear a traditional one-piece rather than a bikini. But all that matters is that whatever you wear it’s appropriate for a swimming pool environment and for a learning environment.
Most men will wear jammers (they look like bicycle shorts but are for swimming) or speedo style trunks. Boardshorts aren’t suitable as they cause a lot of drag.
The pools are warm but if you are someone who feels the cold we recommend a swim hat (yes it makes a difference) and a rash vest (a thin snug-fitting t-shirt designed for the water often used by surfers under their wetsuits) or a non-neoprene thermal vest.
Swim caps are not required but we recommend them if you have treated hair or long hair that you need to keep back.
Flip flops are not required but we do recommend them for avoiding slips in wet areas.
You can buy swimwear at Decathlon (good for rash vests), swimshop.co.uk (wide variety of swimwear and accessories) and figleaves.com (nice swimwear for women).
